Recommended by a work colleague, we squeezed in breakfast at Raw 101 before heading out to a 3 year old's birthday party last weekend. Under new management (late last year) this cafe has expanded to become a little brunch haven in Castle Hill.

Coffee love - Here's one for the north west

Bathed with the natural sunlight outside, this spot is popular for all. There was an elderly couple enjoying a breakfast together, a group of girls nursing hangovers, a couple of mothers with their babies and two guys checking out future homes in the paper (how noesy am I?).


Everything on the menu was labeled as Raw 101 signature. They all seemed like a slight variation of the other with mushrooms, avocado, tomato or feta as main ingredients. Hash browns were also in a few other combinations (maybe it's for all those hangovers!). Deciding on what to order was a tough choice...

Breakfast stack with bacon $18.00

Looking impressive, the breakfast stack with bacon ($18.00) was layers of semi dried tomato on spinach, bacon and hash browns topped with poached eggs and rocket. There was a scoop of guacamole (dip) on the side with balsamic reduction, a wallop of hollandaise sauce and salad dressing. It was a bit of an overload of elements and sauces.

Field mushroom $18.00

The field mushroom ($18.00) became a messy pile of food while I was eating reflecting my state of confusion - perhaps too many elements again? It was housemade baked beans but the star of the dish was the crispy swirls of bacon that adorn the stuffed field mushroom. How did they make it so crunchy and curly? Yum!

Orange and watermelon freshly squeezed juice $6.00

You can never go wrong with fresh juices on a menu. The fruits of the day was orange, pineapple or watermelon.
