St Malo Bakery, Crows Nest ♥♥
Sunday, February 23, 2014
Hidden right in the heart of Crows Nest, St Malo is more than your typical artisan bakery. With charm, character and quality food, this place is busy with regulars in and out buying coffee, freshly baked bread or pastries.
Seats are quickly taken once available and the best seats are in the covered courtyard in the back where you can sneak in a view of the bakery and kids can have a play.
We got a seat on the communal table right by the open window, perfect to watch the drizzling rain and people passing by. It is a little crowded inside but once I was seated I didn't even notice.
The breakfast menu on a page has all the classics plus some more to showcase their pastries and breads. Instead of eggs benedict ($14.00), I ordered the breakfast of the kings ($18.50) with a side of avocado ($3.00) as I was starving.
it was a hearty meal, full of Mediterranean flavours to excite your organic eggs and toast. It didn't and I didn't need the extra side of avocado. A generous serving of three bacon rashers, chorizo, roast tomato and mushrooms and lots of haloumi - I was in heaven. They weren't kidding that it was fit for a king and I could've easily shared it.
Breakfast is served until 2pm and its a pay at the counter service but that doesn't detract from the polite staff and short wait for food.
With a food coma settling in, I rolled out of St Malo totally satisfied.
