Wild Pear Cafe crept onto my must try list after seeing all the pink fairy floss and epic stacks of food on instagram. Is that the power of social media or just a sign of my instagram addiction?
Located 35km north west of Sydney, it's only about a 40 minute drive from the CBD if you take the M2. It's surrounded by a big garden nursery and little shops selling pots, statues and all things green. Inside the cafe, it's like a massive open floor with a huge wrap around balcony and gorgeous outlook.
We arrived at 10am and it was busy. Luckily we only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The service was inattentive with a little bit of waiting but I came here with a couple of girlfriends, one visiting from the States which meant we had lots to catch up on so it didn't bother us. Actually it was perfect as we didn't feel rushed to eat and then leave.
Many delicious dishes can be found on the breakfast menu. A little on the pricey side although the servings are quite large. The sweet pea felafel comes with avocado, poached eggs, grilled haloumi and a lemony herb yogurt. If you like the look of that haloumi you can get the grilled haloumi stack $19.90. Haloumi heaven!
If you are really hungry there is the big breakfast or the vegetarian version $21.90. The hashbrown is housemade and it comes with smashed peas and avocado, mushrooms, haloumi and roasted cherry tomatoes on sourdough. Usually served with poached eggs we were able to get scrambled eggs instead.
Amongst the other savoury options, the poached eggs and smoked salmon was a treat. The cream lemon sauce with fresh smashed peas and avocado made it feel light and healthy. If you like something sweet, there is french toast $19.90, buttermilk pancakes $16.90 or the breakfast parfait $15.90.
Being so full after our meals, we couldn't even treat ourselves to something sweet. We did enjoy a couple of mimosa $7.90 and a couple rounds of coffee. The other breakfast cocktail available is the bloody mary $13.90.
Social media has really showed off Wild Pear Cafe's amazing fresh food and judging by the crowds, a popular place with the locals. I would recommend to make a booking if you have a large group and also flag for service attention otherwise you will be waiting a while.
