Ruby's Diner, Waverley ♥♥

Sunday, April 13, 2014

Ruby's diner brightens up Bronte Rd with it's fresh blue and white nautical theme, cool graffiti tattoo style murals (a treasure map!) and clean living creations using locally sourced produce. The owners named this place for their daughter and it definitely attracts a weekend crowd with it's all day breakfast option and coffee.
Skim cappuccino $3.80
The coffee was smooth and left a faint sweet after taste. If you can't get enough you can purchase your own Killer Bee house blend to take home.
Fresh juices $8.00
The fresh juices had their own names - L Dog, 55, H Bomb and COLA. H Bomb (on the left) was a tangy combo of orange, watermelon, pineapple and 55 (on the right) was a sweet blend of beetroot, watermelon, apple, carrot, lemon and ginger. They tasted as yummy as they looked.

Ruby's BLAT $16.00 with a poached egg $3.00
The good old BLT was served on sourdough bread with avocado and a decent tasting aioli. As much as we all love crispy bacon, our bacon may have been left a little too long in the oven to stay warm as they were a little dry and soft but that didn't stop it totally disappearing off the plate.

Raw breakfast salad $19.00 with kale, avocado, almonds, fetta and poached eggs
The raw breakfast salad was my way of trying to be healthy and steering away from Iggy's bagel that had house cured ocean trout. Like a mass of seaweed on a plate (to blend in with the nautical theme?), looking around this was definitely the #trending dish. I could see why - it's fresh, light, tasty and healthy. Not one for a hang over though that's for sure.

Ruby's diner is trendy and popular with a constant queue of customers waiting for a seat. It has been around for a while and it looks like it's not going anywhere any time soon.
